Schedule B — Insurance & Financial Liability
Zelfi Ltd (trading as Zelf) Effective date: 30/06/2026
This Schedule forms part of the Agreement between You and Us. It explains when You have Zero Liability for damage to the Vehicle, when You do not, how Our insurance works, and how road traffic and parking charges are handled.
B1. The Zero Liability promise
If You use the Vehicle within the Conditions of Use, You have Zero Liability for: (a) accidental damage to the Vehicle; (b) theft or attempted theft; (c) vandalism; and (d) third-party damage costs arising from an Incident during Your Booking.
We will still take a Deposit/Hold at Booking as security. This does not mean You are liable for damage — it may only be used if an amount becomes payable under this Agreement, including Schedule A, this Schedule B, or Schedule C.
B2. When You lose Zero Liability
You lose Zero Liability for a Booking, and become fully liable for the loss and costs arising from it, if You:
- drive under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or any substance affecting Your fitness to drive;
- allow anyone other than an Authorised Driver to drive, access or take control of the Vehicle;
- drive without a current, genuine entitlement to drive in Great Britain — including where a time-limited entitlement to drive on a non-GB licence, as a visitor or new resident, has expired — having self-certified under Driver Eligibility Policy Section 3 that You held such an entitlement;
- cause damage deliberately, recklessly, or through criminal conduct;
- give false or dishonest information about how damage or an Incident occurred — meaning a statement about the cause, circumstances or extent of damage that is materially inaccurate and that You knew, or must have known, was inaccurate when You made it. An incomplete or late report, without more, is not dishonest for the purposes of this paragraph — it is dealt with under B2A as a breach of the reporting obligation in Schedule C, C5;
- leave the Vehicle unlocked, unattended or otherwise insecure in a way that exposes it to theft;
- use the Vehicle off-road, for racing, or for track use;
- tow anything without Our prior written authorisation;
- continue to drive the Vehicle after becoming aware of a fault, defect or warning that made it unsafe or unfit to drive, without contacting Us;
- fill the Vehicle with the wrong fuel type;
- drive through flood water, a ford, or water deep enough to risk it entering the engine, exhaust or electrical systems;
- remove, fit, or tamper with any part, accessory or equipment of the Vehicle without Our authorisation;
- carry passengers or goods for hire, reward, profit or any other form of remuneration without Our express written authorisation; or
- take the Vehicle outside Great Britain without Our prior written agreement; or
- knew, or ought reasonably to have known based on information You provided, confirmed or failed to update in Your Account or during the verification process, that You did not meet the eligibility requirements of the Driver Eligibility Policy at the time of registering or at the time of a Booking, or gave Us false or misleading information about Your identity, licence or driving record that affected Our decision to accept You as a Driver or to provide insurance cover.
B2A. Other breaches
For any breach of the Conditions of Use not listed in B2, Your liability is limited to the loss that breach actually caused — We will not hold You liable for damage or costs unconnected to it.
B3. Deposit, payment and recovery
If You owe Us money under this Agreement — whether under Schedule A, this Schedule, or Schedule C — We may apply the Deposit/Hold first. If the amount owed is more than the Deposit/Hold, You must pay the remaining balance.
We may recover any outstanding amount by charging Your registered payment method, deducting it from any available balance in Your Wallet, issuing an invoice, involving Our insurers, using debt recovery agents, or starting legal proceedings where appropriate. Where a Business Account applies, amounts owed may be recovered from the Business Account Holder in accordance with Main Agreement Clause 1A.4. We will act reasonably and provide a clear summary of what We are charging and why.
Deliberate, reckless, fraudulent or criminal damage may be reported to the police.
B4. Conditions of Use
You must follow the Conditions of Use throughout Your Booking. Breach of a Condition listed in B2 removes Zero Liability entirely, as set out above. Breach of any other Condition makes You liable for the loss it actually caused, under B2A.
B4.1 Driving and safety. You must not: (a) drive under the influence of alcohol, drugs or any substance that makes You unfit to drive, including misuse of prescription medication; (b) use a handheld mobile phone while driving, including texting, filming, scrolling or taking calls; (c) allow anyone other than an Authorised Driver to drive, access, move or take control of the Vehicle; (d) drive without a current, genuine entitlement to drive in Great Britain; (e) use the Vehicle off-road, for racing, for track use, or on roads or areas unsuitable for the Vehicle type or conditions; (f) exceed the Vehicle’s stated load or passenger capacity; (g) tow anything unless We have given prior written authorisation; (h) carry passengers or goods for hire, reward or profit unless We have expressly authorised this in writing; (i) use the Vehicle in any unsafe, reckless, unlawful or prohibited way; (j) continue to drive the Vehicle after becoming aware of a fault, defect or warning that made it unsafe or unfit to drive, without contacting Us; (k) fill the Vehicle with the wrong fuel type; or (l) drive through flood water, a ford, or water deep enough to risk it entering the engine, exhaust or electrical systems.
B4.2 Van height and loading. If You are driving a van, You are responsible for checking the Vehicle’s height, width and length before entering or passing through any restricted structure or area, including car parks, barriers, arches, bridges, drive-throughs, loading bays, tunnels and width-restricted roads. Any damage, recovery, third-party cost or loss arising from this is treated as loss caused by Your breach, and You are liable for it in full.
B4.3 Care of the Vehicle. You must: not smoke or vape in the Vehicle under any circumstances (see B6); not carry hazardous materials unless We have authorised this in writing; return the Vehicle locked, secured and to an authorised return location; follow all in-App instructions for starting, using and ending the Booking; not tamper with the Vehicle, keys, telematics, immobiliser, tracking, sensors, safety systems or equipment; and take reasonable care of the Vehicle throughout the Rental Period.
B4.4 Accidents, incidents and honesty. You must report any collision, incident, theft, attempted theft, vandalism, damage or suspected damage to Us immediately — see Schedule C for what to do and how to report. You must not leave the scene of an accident without fulfilling all legal obligations, including stopping, exchanging details and reporting to the police where required. You must not admit liability to a third party without Our consent, unless required by law. You must give Us complete, accurate and honest information about what happened, and cooperate with Our reasonable requests, Our insurers’ reasonable requests, and any investigation.
B4.5 Fines, enforcement and parking. You are responsible for all penalty charge notices, fines, tolls, congestion and clean air zone charges, speeding fines, traffic offences, clamping, towing, storage and impound costs incurred during Your Booking, and Our related admin fees under Schedule A — see B10–B12 for how this works. These charges are Your responsibility whether or not You qualify for Zero Liability for damage.
B4.6 Taking the Vehicle abroad. You must not take the Vehicle outside Great Britain unless We have agreed this with You in writing in advance and You have paid the additional charge shown in Schedule A.
B4.7 Vehicle integrity. You must not: (a) sell, rent out, or otherwise dispose of the Vehicle or any of its parts; (b) represent that You own the Vehicle, or that You are Our agent or representative; (c) remove, obscure, or alter any signage, branding, or identifying marks on the Vehicle; or (d) use the Vehicle to give driving tuition or instruction to another person.
B5. Photo check-out and check-in
You must complete the mandatory in-App check-out, including all required photos, at the start of Your Booking, and the mandatory in-App check-in at the end.
If damage is found after Your Booking and it was not documented at check-out, We will assume it occurred during Your Booking. You can challenge this, but the burden is on You to provide credible evidence — time-stamped photos, video, third-party evidence, police reports, insurer evidence or other reliable proof — that the damage existed before Your Booking or occurred after it ended.
B6. Smoking and vaping
Smoking and vaping are not allowed in any Vehicle under any circumstances. If We find evidence of smoking or vaping during Your Booking, You must pay the Smoking Remediation Fee shown in Schedule A — this applies even if there is no visible damage, and is separate from any other cleaning, repair, loss of use or admin charges that may apply.
B7. What Zero Liability does not cover
Even where You qualify for Zero Liability, You remain responsible for: late return charges; failure to end the rental properly; wrong location or outside-geofence return charges; fuel, missing fuel and misfuelling charges; cleaning, smoking and odour charges; fines, PCNs, tolls, congestion/clean air zone charges, clamping, towing, storage and impound costs; admin fees in Schedule A; Your own personal belongings left in the Vehicle; and anything else stated in these Terms, Schedule A or the App as Your responsibility.
B8. Disputes and evidence
If We tell You that You are liable for costs under this Schedule and You disagree, contact Us within 14 days with supporting evidence. We will review the matter fairly and may pause further recovery action while We do, but You remain responsible for any undisputed amount. If We uphold the charge, You must pay the amount due promptly.
B9. Insurance
We maintain the motor insurance required by law for the Service. Cover, claims handling and recovery may be subject to Our insurer’s terms, conditions, exclusions and excesses.
The Insurance Excess is Our cost, not Yours. Where Our insurer applies an excess to a claim, that is a cost between Us and Our insurer — it is not passed on to You simply because an Incident occurred. Your financial responsibility to Us is governed only by B1–B2A above, not by the level of any Insurance Excess.
We provide no cover for personal injury or death (including medical expenses), or for loss, damage or theft of personal property left in or on the Vehicle.
If You have arranged to use Your own insurance, and We have validated this before Your Booking began, We will let You and Your insurer deal with whether the Vehicle can be repaired and the compensation due, in place of Our own insurance arrangements for that Booking.
B10. Road traffic and parking — keeper liability
You are liable as keeper of the Vehicle for offences, penalties, fines, clamping, towing or impound action relating to the Vehicle, arising from how, or where, You used, parked or left the Vehicle during Your Booking — including where You parked or left it when ending Your Booking. This applies even where We only become aware of the issue, or have to deal with it (for example, collecting a clamped or towed Vehicle), after Your Booking has ended. Where Your Booking includes one or more Additional Drivers, this section identifies You, as the Driver, as the hirer — see Driver Eligibility Policy Section 6 for Your responsibility to identify the actual driver to the issuing authority where this applies. By starting a Booking, You confirm this acknowledgement for the purposes of road traffic legislation, including the Road Traffic Offenders Act 1988 and the Traffic Management Act 2004.
B11. Statement of Liability
Where the law allows Us to transfer liability for a penalty charge or road user charge to You — this generally applies to parking contraventions and schemes such as the congestion charge or ULEZ — We do so by giving the relevant authority a statement confirming You were the hirer at the relevant time, together with: Your full name; date of birth; permanent address; address at the time of hiring, if different; Your licence country, number and expiry date; and the Vehicle’s registration, make and model. You agree to provide and keep this information accurate and up to date in Your Account, so We can do this without delay.
This statement identifies You, as the Driver, as the hirer at the relevant time, regardless of whether You or an Additional Driver was actually driving — see Driver Eligibility Policy Section 6 for Your responsibility to identify the actual driver to the issuing authority where this applies.
Some contraventions cannot be transferred at all. London bus lane and certain other camera-enforced moving traffic contraventions cannot be transferred to You under the law, regardless of this Schedule — the relevant legislation makes Us liable as owner with no transfer mechanism available. Where this applies, We will pay the charge and recover it from You under B12 below, as a contractual debt rather than a statutory transfer.
B12. Reimbursement for fines and charges
You agree to reimburse Us for the amount of any fine, penalty charge, road user charge, clamping, towing, storage, recovery or release cost arising from how, or where, You used, parked or left the Vehicle during Your Booking — including where You parked or left it when ending Your Booking. This applies even where We only become aware of the issue, or have to deal with it (for example, collecting a clamped or towed Vehicle), after Your Booking has ended. You must also pay Our related admin fee under Schedule A. This applies whether or not liability can be transferred to You under B10–B11, and We may recover it in accordance with B3.
